With our Women Rock! showcase just two days away, this week’s New Music Tuesday post will highlight the amazing artists that are set to grace the stage on July 14th. See you at the show!
Ghostwise – 8PM – Ghostwise was initially intended to be guitarist/vocalist Kerry Kennedy’s solo project but quickly grew to include a community of like minded musicians. An ever evolving cast of characters, the Williamsburg based band creates dark country/folk/rock. Listen
Emily Zuzik – 9PM- A prolific singer/songwriter, rocker and sought-after collaborator, Emily Zuzik “mixes the urgent intensity of Ani DiFranco and Tori Amos with the easy cool of Kim Gordon,” (Performing Songwriter Magazine). She was recently featured on Moby’s album Destroyed and has just released her seventh studio album, The Wild Joys of Living. Listen
Misty Boyce - 10PM- Singer, pianist and songwriter Misty Boyce has taught piano in Chinatown, overseen the music program at a mega Church in Ohio, studied jazz piano in a Cincinnati conservatory, and grown into one of the best singer-songwriters on the fertile New York scene. Her impressive self-titled debut album is a deeply affecting document of an artist defining who she is through her music. Listen
Claire London – 11PM- With a rock and roll edge and a powerhouse voice, Claire London combines deeply personal lyrics with haunting melodies, distorted bass lines, and bluesy rock and roll on her debut album, Like A Machine, set for release this fall. London’s intriguing personal aesthetic (a mix of haute couture and the Mad Hatter) is as unique as her sound, with musical influences ranging from Led Zeppelin to Portishead to The Black Keys, with a little Nine Inch Nails and Nina Simone in between. Listen
Lisa Jaeggi – 11:30PM- Sweet and soulful, spiritual and tranquil, 26-year-old Lisa Jaeggi’s blend of folk, hip hop, soul and pop showcases her exceptional talent as a lyricist and poet. Her themes range from melancholic narratives splashed with religious and political observations to carefully constructed thoughts about city life. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, her words express a raw power that often resonates louder than the soft and intentionally sparse production of her songs. Listen

Congratulations to Emily Zuzik for the amazing feature by Laura Cococcia in The Huffington Post today!
Says the author: “Why I love her: she believes in the power of intuition to guide her, adoring her inspirations, but not a slave to the rules of what must define a songwriter. Emily and I had a chance to connect and talk more about the world behind her story. I’m thrilled to share it with you and hope that aspiring musicians — and writers — can visualize the vibrancy in the template she’s created for herself, a true lesson for me in what creativity can look like.”
Right on! Be sure to join us on June 25th at The Living Room to celebrate the release of Zuzik’s The Wild Joys of Living!
